Download ZimaOS
Get the current x86-64 installer from the official source.
Use the official installer#
Open the official ZimaOS download page ↗ and its current installation guide ↗. The official guide reviewed on August 18, 2026 describes ZimaOS for generic x86-64 hardware, at least 25 GB of storage and a bootable USB made from the latest .img release.
Choose the Community Edition installer for a generic x86-64 PC. Do not select an ARM image or a device-specific recovery file unless the official page explicitly identifies it for your model.
What the file is#
The download is a disk image—usually a .img file or a compressed archive containing one. It is a byte-for-byte layout for a bootable drive. Dragging that file onto a normal USB stick does not make the USB bootable; a flashing tool must write the image’s partitions.
- 1Download the latest stable image from the official page or its linked official release.
- 2Note the filename and size.
- 3If your browser downloaded an archive, follow the release notes about whether Etcher can open it directly or whether it should be extracted first.
- 4Keep the download until the USB verifies successfully.
