Keep the Windows, ZimaOS, or Linux server at the same home-network address.

Why do this?#
Your router can change a computer's local address. A DHCP reservation keeps Playit targets, bookmarks and port-forwarding rules pointing to the right machine.
Four steps#
- 1Open the router or ISP app.
- 2Find Connected devices, Clients, LAN or Home network.
- 3Select the server PC and choose Reserve IP, Static lease or Always use this address.
- 4Save, restart the server PC if requested, and confirm the address did not change.

No reservation option
Check both the ISP's app and web page, or search the router model plus “DHCP reservation.” Playit can work without one, but its target may need updating after an address change.
