Reserve the local IP
Ask the router to keep giving the server the same address.

Why the address should stay put#
DHCP normally lends addresses for a period of time. A reservation tells the router: “Whenever this network card asks, give it this same local IP.” Crafty bookmarks, Playit targets and port-forwarding rules then keep pointing to the right machine.
- 1Open your router or ISP app/admin page.
- 2Find Connected devices, Clients, LAN or Home network.
- 3Select the wired ZimaOS computer. Compare its current IP and MAC address with ZimaOS.
- 4Choose Reserve IP, DHCP reservation, Address reservation, Static lease or Always use this address.
- 5Save. Restart the ZimaOS computer only if the router requests it.
- 6Reopen the dashboard and update your bookmark if the address changed.
Confirm the result#
Restart ZimaOS once during a quiet moment. If it returns with the same address and the dashboard loads, the reservation is working. Write the address on the printed setup checklist.
No reservation option
Some ISP routers hide advanced controls. Check their mobile app and web page, or ask the ISP whether “static lease” is available. Playit can still work without a reservation, but you may need to update its local target after an address change.
